September - October 2009

Saturday 31st October

Tomorrow is the Midland English Springer Champ Show and we did have four dogs entered. However Holly is in season and Seamus decided that he would stick his head into a nest of horrible insects and now has a face like a walrus. Despite three different kinds of tablets, injections, creams and a special and very expensive spray, he is not going to be able to go tomorrow as his face is still swollen. Such a pity that he won't be there to defend his title (!) but it is going to be down to Kye and Ninja to make the trip up to Yorkshire.

The puppies are doing really well and have now been moved out to the puppy pen in the kitchen. Two new photos added to their gallery as well as a little video clip taken yesterday. You will note that they are accustomed already to listening to Dave's rock music!!

Monday 26th October

Yesterday it was Midland Counties Championship Show - we stayed at home this time, leaving Rattan (P Butterfly at Beresford) to fly the flag. She won Post Graduate Bitch. Well done Rats.

Monday 19th October

New photos and video clips added today of the puppies. We have been a bit tardy with these photos, but both Lila and her babies are doing really well. The pups are now more than two weeks old and are up and walking but still haven't opened their eyes yet. But all in all, they are a very contented and happy bunch!

Over the weekend, Izzie was scanned and we can confirm that she is in whelp. Five puppies were seen on the scan with may be one or two more hiding away but time will tell about that. They are due on or near to 19th November. All the puppies from both Lila and Izzies' litters are now spoken for.

Some very nice news from yesterday that Rattan (Peasblossom Butterfly at Beresford) finished Best Bitch and Reserve BEST IN SHOW at the SWESSS Open Show under judge, Jane Eyeington. Well done from us both! Photo of the final line-up has been added to Rattan's gallery. By the way we have changed all the galleries around so the latest photos are now at the front - it has only taken us three years to realise that would make it a lot easier for everyone!

Lastly, a few more pics of Seamus' offspring added to the slideshow - from Kennels Goldmoore in Sweden and Desperado in Norway. Go to Seamus' own page to locate.

Wednesday 14th October

Gundog Society of Wales today, under judge John Thirlwell. Only Kye and Holly were entered this time. The day started well with Kye winning his Graduate Class and Holly, who is sadly as bald as a coot, was placed third in her Graduate Bitch class. Not a bad day at all with glorious weather making it a very enjoyable show catching up with friends. Also heard today that Kye is going to be a daddy for the very first time - congratulations to the prospective 'parents'!

Some good news from Ireland too, that Dixie (Peasblossom Daybreak) owned by Jackie and Sam Knowles won her first Green Star as well as the Puppy Stakes at the Irish Field & Gundog Group Championship Show. Judges were Mr J Guillamon, from Spain and Mr T Creamer from Ireland. Congratulations from us both. 'Microscopic' photograph to the left!!

Lila's puppies continue to do well and are now walking really well, have finally opened their eyes and are playing, wagging and starting to take much more interest in the world around them. They have also started eating 'real' food. Some new photos have been added to their gallery. Go to the Current Litters page to find the link.

Monday 12th October

Two pieces of lovely news to share.... first of all that Seamus' daughter, Kaila (Gaolachcara Cliodna) was awarded BIS 3 at Tay Valley Gundog at the weekend giving her enough points for her Show Certificate of Merit at just 14 months. Well done from us all!

Secondly, that Zeneck, (Linmoor Zimply Zalient) - the father of Lila's puppies attended the World Show in Bratislava yesterday and did fantastically well, finishing Best of Breed and Group 2!! See photo above! Many Congratulations from us and all his children!! Let us hope that one or two of them might follow in his footsteps one day......

Finally a new video clip has been added of the puppies doing not very much - taken at one week old.

Wednesday 7th October

All going well and Lila's puppies are doing fine. Everyone is shattered, weather is apalling... what happened to the summer????? New photos of the babies to follow hopefully tomorrow. However, a new photo has been added today of Holly, taken at Driffield in the bitch challenge, a couple of Kye after his bath and also two of Seamus at Darlington. You will need to go to their individual galleries to view. Finally Seamus' offspring page has been updated today with two new pics of his son, Lillis, Barecho Want Some Fun - go to Seamus' page and look for the link to the slideshow.

Sunday 4th October

Yesterday, Lila's puppies arrived! She has seven, four boys and three girls. Both Lila and the babies are all doing really well and Lila is a model mother and adores her puppies. More photos to follow shortly.

Friday 2nd October

Driffield Championship Show under judge, John Lillie (Freeway) today. Dave took the long drive up to Yorkshire this time with our friend Lesley McCourt and her puppy, Woodspa Eucalyptus. Another good day as Kye won his Yearling Dog class, Holly also won the Yearling Bitch class and Seamus finished 3rd in Open Dog. Another super day too, for Seamus' son and daughter from Scotland, Gaolachcara Oghma and Clioda - both winning their respective Junior classes. Well done again!

Our next news should be to announce the arrival of Lila's puppies. She is doing really well, looking beautiful, if a little rotund. We think the puppies will be born sometime over the coming weekend so keep watching this space!

Friday 25th September

Well we are finally back on line with a new computer, having lost everything again of course. Not a lot of point in buying these back-up gadgets if you don't actually ever back anything up... one day we will learn!! Anyway we have lost the email addresses of everyone including all the people that have made enquiries about a puppy from Lila or Izzie. We have your names but not your contact details so please get in touch if you are still interested and many apologies for our poor admin!

Thank you to all those of you who have sent congratulatory messages for Seamus' win at Darlington. We have only seen the messages on Facebook today but thank you for taking the time to leave them.

Tuesday 22nd September

A lovely day at Darlington Championship Show on Sunday! The judge was Graham Osborne (Beaters). It was Kye's first venture into Post Grad with the bigger boys where he gained a respectable third. Holly, also with her first try at Post Grad was placed fourth. But our star of the day was Seamus who won a really super Open Dog class and was awarded the Dog CC and BOB. We were thrilled!

Seamus' son, 'Toash', Gaolachcara Oghma also won Junior Dog - well done from us both!! 'Sadie', Peasblossom Dream for Amandian was placed 4th in Minor Puppy Bitch and 'Rattan', Peasblossom Butterfly at Beresford, VHC in Post Grad bitch.

Other news:- Dave made another long, long trip last week and drove to Sweden taking Izzie to be mated to Sammy, (Goldmoore Gold Dreamer). Sammy was as lovely as we remembered him! We thank Michael and Christina for their generous hospitality and now look forward to Izzie's litter in a few weeks time. We certainly have some busy but exciting and hopefully rewarding times ahead of us.

Lila is very much blooming now and huffing and puffing quite a lot. Not long to go now.

Finally, our computer is dead!! We have to buy a new one.....sigh....so many apologies if you have been emailing us over the last few days without a response! We hope to be up and running again shortly.

Monday 14th September

Yesterday was the day of Richmond Champ Show. An okay kind of day results-wise under Patsy Hollings, but the weather and venue were both good, the company excellent and best of all it only took an hour and a half to get there!!!

Sunday 6th September

Today we went to the City of Birmingham Champ Show under judge, Trudy Short. We had entered Holly and Lila but as Lila is now in whelp, only Holly went. She won her Graduate Class and in the challenge, was awarded the RCC! Really, really pleased with that!!

Some more good news has filtered its way down from Scotland, that Seamus' daughter, Kaila (Gaolachara Cliodna) was awarded BOB, Gundog Group 1 and finally BEST IN SHOW at Irvine & District Open Show. Wooohooo!!!! Many congratulations from all of us down here and keep it up!

Thursday 3rd September

We are thrilled to announce that Lila is definitely having puppies! She has been scanned and six puppies were seen with may be one or two more hiding away. We are delighted and now eagerly await the arrival of these babies. They are due on Monday 5th October.
